Farm.Field.Sea.'s Oyster Farm Tours invite you to experience the Island's booming oyster farming industry first hand with local oyster farmers and biologists. Learn about where oysters are grown, how they're grown, and meet the farmers behind their story. The adventure is an excellent experience for the whole family and a fun way to learn about these incredible bivalves and to 'kiss the sea on its lips" with an oyster sample plucked from the waters around you. 
The two-hour adventure includes:
  • Visit a working oyster farm & learn about bivalves from seed to shuck
  • Meet local oyster farmers
  • Eat lots of fresh oysters and light local bites
  • Enjoy a sweet Island sunset and magical views of the Vineyard Sound

Guests will meet at the dock of Pirate Adventures Martha's Vineyard. Once we set sail aboard the beautiful ‘pirate vessel’ Sea Gypsy X, we will dive into a talk with biologist Rick Karney from the Martha's Vineyard Shellfish Group to learn about shellfish and what aquaculture is all about. At Cottage City Oyster farm, brothers Dan and Greg Martino will introduce us to their nursery and how they grow, care and harvest their oysters (and we get to see the process in action). Our adventure is topped off with a shucking demo of fresh oysters, sampling of oysters and a sunset sail through the Nantucket Sound and back to the Oak Bluffs Harbor.  Read more about the adventure here. 

The journey is safe for kids of all ages, but the program ideally suited children 8+. Lifejackets for all ages available!
