Farm.Field.Sea. An Island Culinary Adventure

FAQ: Ingredients for a successful adventure

What can I expect of a Farm. Field. Sea. adventure?
Guests are invited to dive behind the scenes with the food purveyors of Martha's Vineyard. Some adventures require walking and/or a physical activity, others do not, we ask guests to listen to their own bodies to assess the difficulty and possible risk of the tour.  Regardless, your meals will be memorable, as you’ll be seated at one of the most incredible locations on the Island, enjoying the freshest of the island's bounty!  What’s more, you’ll be in the company of friendly, sociable, like-minded food lovers from all over the world.

What can I expect at a Makers Table dinner?
Guests will check in and join the party to mingle, sip a cocktail and taste yummy small bites. About 45 minutes into the reception, we invite you to an exclusive talk with one of our guests or a guided tour of the host farm or site. The program is typically 30 minutes in length, ending at the table where guests enjoy a multi-course meal created by Chef Spring Sheldon and our guest chef in our outdoor kitchen. Dinner is served family style, with wine. The locations are secret - announced three days before the event to ticket holders.

Will the schedule be exactly what is listed on the website.
The sample schedules paint a fairly accurate picture of what you will experience with Farm. Field. Sea. Be assured, however, that any change that we may make will be based solely on how we can create the best experience possible for you.

What if there is bad weather?
The sun always shines on Martha’s Vineyard! Okay, maybe not always. Severe weather is possible but rare in the summer and event will proceed as scheduled in light rain and other mild weather conditions. In the rare event that we have to cancel a event, you will have the opportunity to reschedule your tickets (subject to availability) or receive credit towards a future event. We do have excellent back-up plans in case of weather meltdowns, but for the most part, IT IS ON! So please dress appropriately.

How many people will be part of the Farm. Field. Sea. event?
Your adventure will be limited to a small group of up to 25 guests, the dinners will have a maximum of 40 guests. For most excursions we will divide the group in two (i.e. 12 guests per excursion). This will allow you to explore sites closed to larger groups, and to enjoy real interaction with our team and authentic collaborators.

Do I need to know anything about the pop-up dinner locations?
Your meal will be held in an amazing bespoke location, where you will dine with your new friends and with Farm.Field.Sea. collaborators you have met along the way.

Can you accommodate people with dietary restrictions, such as vegetarians, vegans, or people with food allergies?
Some of our dinners do offer a vegetarian option. Please specify these requirements when your reservations are made. While we certainly respect dietary choices and restrictions, we're not able to offer menu substitutions. Our highly talented chefs create a dynamic menu based on that day’s harvest. The cooking spaces and locations are casual, so we will be without the benefit of a full restaurant pantry.

Can you tell me about the custom dinners/lunches?
They are served family style from the freshest ingredients possible. Some dinners and lunches are paired with wine. Non-alcoholic drinks are always available.

Are the excursions dangerous in any way?
We do go 'off the beaten path' via car, foot, and boat. So, while adventure is the name of the game, safety always comes first. All excursions are taken at your own risk. For our oyster tours, please note -
Consuming raw seafood, shellfish may increase your risk of foodborne illness.

What do I wear/bring?
Please bring: rain jackets, rain/muck boots, short and long pants, flip flops, bathing suits, walking shoes, sunscreen, bug spray, water bottle—and layers! It can be chilly at night. Meals are not dressy. Be comfortable!

Can we bring kids?
Please check the adventure description to ensure the Farm. Field. Sea. excursion is appropriate for your kids.
